Norma Jean Summers

Norma Jean Summers, 92, of Jackson, Louisiana, passed away on March 11, 2022. She was born to parents Bert Curry Campbell and Zora Rebecca Boyd Campbell, on April 26, 1929, in Laurel, Mississippi.

Norma Jean met Robert Lee Summers in Jackson, MS in the summer of 1945. They were married on April 18th, 1948, in Jackson, MS. Together they raised 5 children. She devoted her life to serving God and teaching the Bible. From the beginning Norma Jean taught in Child Evangelism Fellowship Bible clubs, 5 day clubs, Children's Church, Youth Camps, Awana and many churches. It was her greatest desire that all may know Jesus and she shared about Him with everyone she met. For her faithfulness, she was blessed with long life and her seed of generations to follow in the love of Jesus also. After losing her husband early in life, Norma Jean went back to school and began Summer's Accounting, which she continued until her late 80's. Even in this, she made time to continue to teach the Bible at church and in Nursing Homes and visit with all of her family throughout her life.

Norma Jean is survived by her five children and their spouses, Larry (Joyce), Joyce (Bennie), Bob (Susie), Patricia (Bob), and Dorothy (Wray). She is also survived by her 12 grandchildren and 21 (+1 on the way) great grandchildren and 9 (+1 on the way) great great-grandchildren; and her sister, Dorothy "Dot" Mattos (Joe).

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sara Elaine, husband Robert Lee, parents Bert and Zora Campbell, mother-in-law Martha Summers, and brother Herbert Campbell.

Pallbearers will be grandsons Tim Johnson, Eric Knight and Cory Knight; and grandsons-in-law, Steve Stokes, James Norton, and Brian Perry; and Honorary Pallbearer, Keith Dumond.

The visitation is scheduled for Saturday, March 19, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. until the Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 4200 Main St., Zachary, La 70791.
