Mary Eloise Harris Haynes, 82 years old, beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and friend to many around the globe was called to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on February 6, 2021. She entered this world on October 9, 1938, born to Fred and Ruby Harris, in Winnsboro, LA. She was a graduate of Crowville High School. Mary was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Baker for many years. She taught youth girls’ Sunday School for numerous years and served as a chaperone on several youth retreats and mission trips to Mexico.

Mary was retired from the Petroleum Engineering Department at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge with 34 years of dedicated service. Faculty, staff, and students looked up to Mary and would often seek her advice. She was a recipient of the LSU Foundation Staff Outstanding Service Award in 1990. Even after retiring, former faculty, staff, and students kept in touch with Mary and would send her cards and letters. After retiring from LSU, Mary later worked as the financial secretary at her church for several years. Mary enjoyed spending time with her family and planting flowers. She also enjoyed LSU sports, especially attending College World Series baseball games in Omaha, NE to watch LSU play. Mary enjoyed traveling and went on several trips with the senior adults in her church.

Mary is survived by her son, John “Evan” Haynes; daughters, Phyllis Haynes Hall, Reba Haynes Rosenbach (Joseph), and Margaret Haynes Daigle (Wayne); five grandsons, Joshua Hall (Dana), Brian Rosenbach, Kyle Daigle, Keith Rosenbach (Brittney), and Glen Daigle; six great-grandchildren, Zoe Hall, Rhyan Rosenbach, Drake Hall, Bentley Rosenbach, Brookelynn Rosenbach, and Rowan Rosenbach and Baby Rosenbach due in August, 2021; sister, Carolyn Harris Whitehead; and a host of many other relatives.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband, John Edgar Haynes; father, Fred Ernest Harris; mother, Ruby Glasscock Harris; three brothers, Charles Harris, Fredrick “Leo” Harris, and Glen Dale Harris; son-in-law, Ritchie Hall.

Serving as pallbearers will be Joshua Hall, Brian Rosenbach, Kyle Daigle, Keith Rosenbach, Glen Daigle, Baker Boyd, Henry Green, and Warren Pratt.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, LA on Friday, February 12, 2021, from 10:00 AM until the Funeral Service at 12:00 PM, officiated by Reverend Jay Avance. The graveside service and burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, in Baker, Louisiana.
