Marlene passed away on October 30, 2021 in Denham Springs, LA. She was 85 years old.
Marlene was raised in Gloster, Mississippi and attended Southwest Mississippi Junior College before moving to Baton Rouge in the early 1960s where she worked for Louisiana National Bank. She was a founding member of Watson Baptist Church and longtime senior adult social group volunteer and coordinator.
She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Daryl Rushing and Pamela and Ken Lang of Watson; granddaughter, Danielle Rushing and fiancée, Jacob Behrends of Boerne, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Hollis Harrell of McComb, MS; and nephews, Paul and Gene Harrell.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Virgie Longmire; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, buried at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, in Gloster, Mississippi.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, LA, on Friday, November 5, 2021, from 9:00 AM until the Religious Services at 11:00 AM, officiated by Reverend John Pemberton. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Baker, LA beside her husband of 50 years, Leslie Wells. Pallbearers will be the deacons of Watson Baptist Church.
