Kevin Shanley

July 10, 1990 — September 13, 2022

Kevin Shanley

Kevin Christopher Shanley, 32 years old, was called to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 13, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He entered this world on July 10, 1990, born to Kim and Richard "Flip" Shanley, in Baton Rouge, LA.

Kevin Shanley was passionate about theology, philosophy, music, and family. His belief in God was based upon the strict and literal interpretation of biblical scripture. Kevin was always reading and learning. His mind was packed with an incredible amount of knowledge. His grandmother often referred to him as Google.

He was fond of the writings and preaching of R.C. Sproul, Charles Spurgeon, John MacArthur, Martin Luther, and many more preachers and theologians. Above all he loved the Word of Christ as written in the Bible. His library was extensive and diverse. He also read Fredrich Nietzsche, Carl Jung, Arthur Schopenhauer, and Robert Greene.

Kevin was an extremely talented musician. He loved to play the drums, guitar, and could play any instrument he could get his hands on. He enjoyed composing and writing music. Like his passion for reading, his taste in music was diverse. He shared a love for 70's and 80's music with his parents and siblings. He played and listened to heavy metal, rock, alternative rock, funk, jazz, classical, R&B, techno, country, and many other genres.

He enjoyed comedy and telling jokes. He would often quote Norm MacDonald, his favorite comedian.

Kevin was affectionately called Uncle Hey by his nieces and nephew.

Kevin's heart was immense. He was extremely humble, considerate, kind, polite and respectful. He never turned down an opportunity to help someone. He always put others before himself.

Kevin is survived by his parents, Richard "Flip" and Kim Shanley; brother, Brian Shanley and wife, Kristen; maternal grandmother, Helen Smith; nephew, Braden Shanley; nieces, Kamryn and Kaitlyn Shanley, and Addison Matthews; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Kevin is preceded in death by his sister, Kaitlyn "Brooke" Shanley; maternal grandfather, Vernon Smith; paternal grandfather, Richard Shanley; and paternal grandmother, Carol Shanley.

Pallbearers will be Brian Shanley, Tommy Turner, Jason Shanley, Darryl Johnson, Tom Bennett, Ryan Shanley, Lucas Johnson, and Braden Shanley.
