John Haynes

John Edgar Haynes, 84 years old, beloved Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather and friend to many was called to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 10, 2020. He entered this world on May 2, 1936, born to Etta and Amzi Haynes, in Thomastown, MS. He was a graduate of Baker High School. John was a member of First Baptist Church of Baker.

John was retired from East Louisiana State Hospital in Jackson, LA, with 30 years of service. He was also a dedicated volunteer fireman for the Baker Fire Department for over 20 years, becoming a Life Member of the Louisiana State Firemen’s Association. John was also a ham radio operator (KD5JEH). He loved many sports, especially LSU sports and the New Orleans Saints. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. John mostly enjoyed spending time with his family.

John is survived by his loving wife of 63 ½ years, Mary Eloise Harris Haynes; son, John “Evan” Haynes; daughters, Phyllis Haynes Hall, Reba Haynes Rosenbach (Joseph), and Margaret Haynes Daigle (Wayne); five grandsons, Joshua Hall (Dana), Brian Rosenbach (Jessica), Kyle Daigle, Keith Rosenbach (Brittney), and Glen Daigle; six great-grandchildren, Zoe Hall, Rhyan Rosenbach, Drake Hall, Bentley Rosenbach, Brookelynn Rosenbach, and Rowan Rosenbach; and a host of many other relatives.

John is preceded in death by his father, Amzi Talmage Haynes; mother, Etta Rabb Haynes; two brothers, Ray Rabb Watson and James “Jimmie” Waller Haynes; son-in-law, Ritchie Hall.

Serving as pallbearers will be Joshua Hall, Brian Rosenbach, Kyle Daigle, Keith Rosenbach, Glen Daigle, Baker Boyd, Henry Green, and Warren Pratt. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be James E. “Goose” Carroll.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, LA on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, from 10:00 AM until the Funeral Service at 1:00 PM, officiated by Reverend Jay Avance. The graveside service and burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, in Baker, Louisiana.
