Wesley Wayne Jenkins, a man of remarkable character and enduring spirit, peacefully transitioned to his eternal rest on May 9, 2026, at the age of 88. He passed as he lived, enveloped in the warmth and devotion of his loving family.
His journey began on September 3, 1937, in Amite, Louisiana, when he was born to Maggie and James Jenkins. From those early roots, he grew into devoted family man, leaving behind a legacy defined by grace, wisdom, and an unwavering commitment to those he held dear.
Wesley is survived by his 4 daughters, Amy Jenkins Annison (John), Lezlie Jenkins Beard (Elzie), Rebecca Ann Clabaugh, and Sherry Jenkins Duncan (Randall); 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Wesley is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy "Dottie" Jenkins; father, James Wilford Jenkins; mother, Maggie Lillian (Thomas) Jenkins; 3 brothers, Terry A. Jenkins, Otis Jenkins, and Reggie D. "Pete" Jenkins; 3 sisters, Geraldine Westbrook, Sylvia Harrell, and Tena Mills.
Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Cooper Robinson, Mason Key, Connor Key, Josh Smith, Dustin Annison, Adam Beard, and Wes Clabaugh.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, LA, on Friday, May 15, 2026, from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM, followed by the graveside service, officiated by Pastor Kelly Sullivan, at the Plains Presbyterian Memorial Gardens, in Zachary, Louisiana.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff at The Butterfly Wing Hospice Center for their tender care and unwavering support. A special thank you to Nurse Shelley, whose compassion and gentle spirit provided a source of great comfort during our most difficult days.
