Todd Shannon Runnels, 55 years old, stepped into the eternal presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 25, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of integrity and service. His journey began on July 26, 1970, in Lake Charles, LA, born to Sheila and Tom Davenport.
Todd's athletic spirit shone brightly on the field as he proudly played college football for McNeese State University, demonstrating fierce dedication and teamwork. His passion for the game continued beyond his college years, as he then pursued and played semi-professional football, showcasing enduring talent and a love for the sport that defined a significant part of his life's journey
A man of profound duty, Todd honorably served in the United States Air Force for 14 years, embodying the core values of excellence and sacrifice. Following his military career, he became a pillar of protection in the industrial sector, traveling across the nation as a Lead Safety Manager. He spent his life ensuring the well-being of others, a testament to his watchful and caring spirit.
Todd is survived by his loving daughters, Alexis Davenport (Paul Cochran) and Brooke Davenport; grandchildren, Eleanor and Crew Cochran and Ryder Fontenot; and his loving companion, Laurie Trahan and her children, Sydney Fontenot (Tyler), Jack Bert, and Annalise Bert; brother, Cory Runnels (Tiffany); father, Tom Davenport; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Todd is preceded in death by his; step-father, Wayne Runnels; and mother, Sheila Stubbs Runnels.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road Baker, LA, on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, from 10:00 AM until the Funeral Service at 12:30 PM. The graveside service with military honors will follow at Louisiana National Cemetery, in Zachary, Louisiana.
