Thomas Day

Thomas "Tom" Marion Day, 83 years old, was called to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 7, 2025. He entered this world on June 14, 1942, born to Ollie and Thomas Day. He was a proud graduate of Louisiana State University (LSU), where he laid the foundation for a distinguished career at the Exxon Research and Development Labs.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Tom dedicated his life to ministry. He was an ordained minister and served in the ministry for many years, touching countless lives with his wisdom and compassion. He and his first wife, Karen Day, were a beacon of guidance for the young married community, leading ministries at Foster Road Baptist Church and Northside Baptist Church throughout the 1970s and 1980s. Their work built a foundation of faith and fellowship for many young couples in the city.

Beyond his career and ministry, Tom was an example of a Godly gentleman. He was known for his kind heart, his infectious smile, and his genuine warmth. He cherished his family above all, and his love and devotion will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Tom's legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and the many lives he touched through his tireless service to his community.

Tom is survived by his 2nd wife, Sarah Dobbins Day; 4 sons, Jeff Day (Robin), Jason Day (Terri), Doug Day, and David Day; 4 step-children; 10 grandchildren, Joshua, Jordan, Joannah, Stephanie, Cessily, Nathen, Natalie, Cadyn, Zachary, and Micah; 13 step-grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and multiple step-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Tom is preceded in death by his 1st wife, Karen Wroten Day; father, Thomas Day; mother, Ollie Day; sister, Shirley Day Pitre.

Serving as pallbearers will be Joshua, Jordan, Nathen, Cayden, Zachary, Micah, and Titus.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, LA, on Thursday, September 11, 2025, from 9:00 AM until the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM, officiated by Matt Hadley and Blake Boudreaux. The graveside service and burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, in Baker, Louisiana.
