Steve Stein Sr.

Steve Gerard Stein, Sr. 59, beloved Brother and Father and Grandfather was called to his eternal resting place on May 5, 2016. He entered this world on February 1, 1957 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, born to Emily Ann and Joseph Medric Sr. He was the Senior Vice-President of Marketing at Whitney Bank, served on the Board of Directors for Lane Regional Medical Center, the Livingston Parish Economic Development Council, BREC Commission for the Baton Rouge Zoo, St. Isidore Finance Board, St. Isidore CCD Teacher, member of the Baker Rotary Club, Baker Chamber of Commerce, Baker Little Theatre and the Baker Jaycees. He also served as a LAHS Basketball State Playoff Host, host family for foreign exchange students, volunteered and umpired for Baker Little League, and was a Student Financial Mentor for "Pounding The Pavement". He was the third person in his family and the youngest person to be awarded as an Outstanding Citizen of the Year of Baker in 1984 and was also honored as a Distinguished Graduate for St. Isidore.

He is survived by his mother Emily Ann Babin Stein; two sons, John Stein (Karen) of Oklahoma and Steve Stein Jr. of Baker; three grandchildren, Kaylen, Rowan and Rose; one sister, Linda Dossey (James) of Baker; four brothers, Joseph "Medric" Stein Jr., Ricky Stein of Central, Wayne Stein (Connie) of Ponchatoula and Donald Stein (Heather) of Oregon; along with a special friend, Kim Maddie of Baker and numerous nieces and nephews.

Steve is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Medric Stein, Sr.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker on Monday, May 9, 2016 from 5:00pm until 9:00pm. Visiting will continue on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at St. Isidore Catholic Church, Baker from 9:00am until the funeral service at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory,11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge.

Pallbearers will be Mike Morris, Danny Spencer, Scott Fruge', Farrell Fruge', Lionel Stein, Jr. and Ron Wall. Honorary pallbearers will be Barry Boudreaux and Kenneth Bernard.
