Selim E. Bittar, a man of profound faith, deep devotion, and unconditional love, was called to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 1, 2026. He passed away peacefully at the age of 79, surrounded by the warmth and comforting presence of his beloved family.
Selim entered this world on January 1, 1947, in the historic city of Latakia, Syria, born to the late Feda Turkmani and Entanyous Bittar. From his earliest days, he carried a spirit of resilience, kindness, and dedication that would define his entire life and inspire all who knew him.
A pillar of strength and a beacon of love for his family, Selim shared 50 beautiful, milestone years of marriage with his devoted wife, Marcele Halabi. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, heritage, and a profound dedication to their children. Selim's legacy of love lives on through his five children, Nada Bittar, Tony Bittar, Zeina Bittar, Yara Bittar, and Gabriel Bittar; and his cherished granddaughter, Emily Eskaf, who brought immense joy to his later years. He is also survived by his brother, Fadi Bittar; his sisters, Mary Bittar and Helena Bittar; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss his gentle guidance and warm smile.
Selim is reunited in eternity with his parents, Entanyous Bittar and Feda Turkmani; his brother, Rami Bittar; and his sisters, Semira Bittar and Georgette Bittar.
Honoring Selim as pallbearers will be Fadi Bittar, Selim Bittar, Emile Halabi, and Gabriel Bittar.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to join the family in celebrating a life beautifully lived. Visitation will be held at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, LA, on Monday, September 7, 2026, from 9:00 AM until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. The service will be prayerfully officiated by Fr. Silouan Cohen. A graveside service and burial will follow immediately, where Selim will be laid to rest.
