Samuel Paul Reed, M.D., 86, a retired Colonel in the United States Air Force Reserve, and a resident of St. Francisville, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 22, 2016 at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice. He served his country as a Flight Surgeon in the U.S. Air Force, and served his community as a physician.
Dr. Reed is survived by three sons, Michael (wife RaeAnn), Samuel (wife Rita), and Adam (wife Nicole); two daughters, Cynthia Reed-Sutton (husband Les), and Anna Reed; sister-in-law, Jeanette; nieces, JoAnn Repici and Jan Marie Zeitler; 14 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents, Clarence and Ruth; brother, Joel; son, Curtis; first wife, Jane; and wife, Susan.
Visiting at First United Methodist Church of Baker, 1255 Camelia Ave., Baker, on Friday, February 26, from 11:00am until religious services at 12:00pm, conducted by Rev. Gene Rives.
Interment with Military Honors will follow at Louisiana National Cemetery, Zachary.
Serving as pallbearers are sons, Michael, Samuel, and Adam, brothers-in-law, Martin LeSieur and Bruce Beasley, and Jonathan Rice.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to any veterans' charity.
Dr. Samuel Reed was a man who saw and did it all.
