Richard Mathews, III

Richard Mathews, III, age 52, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 24, 2025. He entered this world on November 9, 1972, born to Susan and Richard Mathews, Jr. in Tallahassee, Florida.

Richard is survived by his devoted mother, Susie Wick Anders; his loving daughter, Madeline Sue Mathews; stepdaughter, Sidney Gautreaux; and stepson, Eric Michot. He is also survived by his former wife, Ginny Gautreaux, father and mother in-law, Sheriff Sid and Suzi Gautreaux. He was a brother in-law to Will Gautreaux, Ben Gautreaux, and Chantel Gautreaux Hall.

Richard loved his large extended family dearly. He was a proud grandson, son, father, brother, nephew, cousin, and a great family friend to many. He had a faithful running buddy, Zeb.

He was a graduate of Belaire High School. He then attended special training at Turner Industries. He was a graduate of numerous Fire Brigade Trainings.

A lifelong athlete, Richard played baseball and boxed in his younger years. Staying active was part of who he was as running and working out were part of his daily routine. Richard had a kind heart and a generous spirit, always ready to help others in any way he could.

He was a dedicated employee and first- class operator at Honeywell in Baton Rouge for 30 years, earning the respect and friendship of all who worked with him. He had numerous friends and coworkers he considered Family. He was passionate about his Family,Friends and his job.

Richard touched countless lives and will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Richard.
