Richard Albert Causey, Sr., a man of profound dedication, service, and deep love for his family, passed away peacefully at his home in Baker, Louisiana, on August 27, 2026, at the age of 79.

Richard entered this world on June 26, 1947, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, born to the late Nannie and David Causey. From a young age, he carried a strong sense of duty, which led him to proudly serve his country in the United States Army. Upon returning home, he channeled his passion for service into protecting his community, dedicating 30 years of brave and honorable service to the Baton Rouge Fire Department. A testament to his hard work and commitment, Richard earned a well-deserved retirement at the age of 51, leaving behind a legacy of camaraderie and sacrifice among his fellow firefighters.

While Richard's professional life was defined by bravery, his personal life was defined by an unwavering devotion to his family. He was the anchor of his home and a gentle soul who will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Richard's memory will be forever cherished by his loving wife of 57 years, Patricia Keller Causey; his devoted children, Rick Causey, Jr. and Tina Causey Hamm (along with her husband, Erik); his cherished grandchild, Trenton Payne Causey; and his step-grandson, Austin Hamm (along with his wife, Calie), who blessed Richard with two beautiful great-granddaughters, Autumn and Cami.

He also leaves behind his supportive siblings, brothers Gene Causey and Mike Causey, and sisters Marsha Brent and Connie Nunez, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and lifelong friends who held a special place in his heart.

Richard now rests in eternal peace, reunited with his beloved parents, David and Nannie Vallotton Causey, and his dear brother, Gayle Causey.

A Celebration of Life honoring Richard's legacy will be held at a later date.
