Phyllis Ann C. Martin passed on August 24, 2026, at the age of 82 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 18, 1944, at Ryan Field, Baton Rouge, La, to Perry Cobb and Maybelle (J.D.) Cannon.

Phyllis is survived by her spouse, Dan Evans; son, John McGee; daughters, Deneine (Mark) Luse, Brenda (Randy) Major, Barbara (Steve) Blanchard, and Kirsten (Brandon) Romano; grandchildren, Justin (Lacy) St. Romain, Ashlyn Martin, Kelci Morales, Faith McGee, Ashlyn Major, Devin Major, Randi (Avery) Moser, Alden and Julian Romano; great-grandchildren, Ruth, Luca, Judah, Honey, Jones, Shepherd, and Brenlyn. Sister Peggy (Jerry) Besson, brothers Carl (Jan) Cobb and Jeff (Melanie) Cobb, sister-in-law Peggy E. Cobb, Brenda Campbell, and Joyce (Al) Coburn; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Michael L. Martin; parents, Perry Cobb and Maybelle (J.D.) Cannon; and her brothers, Richard (Patricia) Cobb and Charles Cobb.

She enjoyed her life to the maximum extent. Though she was allergic to the sun, she loved being outdoors sitting on the patio for morning coffee or an afternoon beverage, camping at various state parks, redoing her flower beds, watching her children and grandchildren play and rocking those babies.

She was an avid reader and encouraged her children and grandchildren to read also. She enjoyed the thrill of owning and riding her trike motorcycle and took many rides. Oh yes, she was her own version of a motorcycle mama. She was an amazing cook and loved cooking for her extended family at Morningside@Juban Lakes, especially Thanksgiving 2025. Morningside is where she met and married the lucky man Mr. Dan "from Mississippi" Evans, May of 2023. They enjoyed many road trips through Louisiana and the Mississippi Gulf Coast, grandsons' soccer games, and football games (LSU v OLE MISS) made it a house divided. She loved meeting new people at lunches, Bingo, and Dominos.

Her departure leaves a tender space in the hearts of her family and friends. Her legacy of family, faith, kindness, and unwavering love continues to shine.

The family extends their gratitude to Sheila Robertson, Chaundra Murray and Nick Lanehart, BSN, RN for the exceptional care, prayers and tenderness shown.

Serving as pallbearers are Justin St. Romain, Carl Cobb, Jeff Cobb, R.J. McCutcheon, Bert McCutcheon, Tom Territt, Chip Vincent, Rhett Major, and Honorary pall bearer John McGee.

Relatives and Friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, La, on Thursday, August 27, 2026, from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM with Mass following at 12:30 PM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Zachary, La, officiated by Father Jeffery Bayhi. The burial to follow at Norman E, "Pete" Heine Memorial Gardens Baker, LA.

A Celebration of Phyllis's life will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Zachary, LA, immediately after the graveside service, with an ice cream social, Mom's favorite dessert.
