Pat May

Pat Bradley May

Quote: Pat May, age 63. "I learned at the mere young age of 34 not to take breathing for granted." And she didn't.

Pat Bradley May was 63 years old when she took her last breath on Thursday, July 30, 2015. In her lifetime she has proven how much life and moxie can be packed into one 5'2", Louisiana lady.

Born to Harry and Betty Jo Ferguson Bradley, Pat was the little sister to Sharon Bradley Lagarde and Bruce Bradley, who survived her. Pat was also the big sis to her younger brother and best playmate, Pete Bradley, who was the first of the Bradley clan to depart. With a little Jersey blood from her father and a sweet southern Louisiana bite from her mother, Pat could outrun all the boys, put a fist to a bully and get all dolled up with fashionable and authentic lizard earrings.

A resident of Baker, she graduated from Baker High in 1970, which was just long enough to bring everyone back around for a 45th reunion just shy of a week ago. For someone diagnosed with Alpha One Antitrypsin Enzyme Deficiency and given less than a year to live, a 45th year high school reunion is a lot to write home about. No one expected an experimental lung transplant to give Pat as many years as she's had here on this earth. In fact, she currently holds the record for the longest living recipient of a single lung. She always figured it was a Mexican lung which would explain her new love of Mexican food! With devoted specialists, especially Dr. Clint Lawrence and most importantly a devoted husband, Don May, Pat May has been able to fulfill many goals and dreams that were at one time thought unachievable. Lately she's even found herself on the back of their Harley cruising down The Dragon's Tail in Tennessee. With almost 30 years of marriage, Don May will be lost without his little lady, companion and 24 hour life instructor!

She has never taken one single moment for granted when it came to raising her children, Loren Landry, Kimberly Milligan, and Donovan May. Whether she was yelling in the football stands, or sitting in a middle school classroom with a watchful eye, or traveling down the darkest of roads to bring home a lost child, Pat was always serving her family. She has taught her daughter in law, Ashley Landry, that there are never too many miles between a mother and her children and the best way to introduce green vegetables is with cheese! Driving an hour to help give a grand baby his yucky medicine when newbie parents couldn't manage was the kind of crazy love Pat May knew how to give. Her grandchildren Tanner, Fallon and Brody Landry, Kylie and Chloe Milligan, and Kaden May will miss her so much! She certainly took advantage of being a grandparent and would spoil the children with all the chewing gum and vacations she could get away with!

Her nieces and nephews Christy Bradley Roberstson, Elizabeth Bradley Fife, Chad Bradley, Sarah Bradley Bonnette and Jaime Bradley Fredericks will also miss their crazy Aunt Pat. The Baker community will have one less Pokino, Bunko and card champion. This winner of hearts, Pat Bradley May, is now racing down golden streets and meeting her Maker in Heaven.

To celebrate her life lived to the fullest, please join together for visiting at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, on Sunday, August 2, from 2-6pm, and on Monday, August 3, from 9am until religious services in the chapel at 11am, conducted by Rev.
