With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Nancy Martin Travis, a beloved sister, aunt, and friend, who peacefully departed this life on December 20, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on February 26, 1946, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to M.C and Annie Martin. Nancy dedicated her life to her family and career, leaving an indelible mark on those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Nancy was a respected receptionist in advertising, spending many years at Lamar Graphics Advertisement where her warm spirit and friendly demeanor made her a cherished presence among colleagues. She retired in 2014 to take care of her "babies", great nephew, Owen Garon and great niece, Hadley Garon. She graduated from Glen Oaks High School which marked the beginning of a journey filled with hard work and unwavering dedication. She loved spending time on the back of a Harley Davidson with Claude and their motorcycle family.
She is survived by her brothers, Larry Martin of Waco, Texas, and Robert Martin (Eva) of Denham Springs, sisters, Kaye Mills (Clyde) of Jackson and Faye Romaire of Marrero; her beloved niece, Kalyn Garon, and numerous nieces and nephews; two daughters she never had, Claudette and Sheilah along with their families. They will continue to honor her memory and the love she instilled in their lives.
Nancy was preceded in death by parents, Annie Etta and M.C. Martin; and husband, Claude Dugas, and many friends.
Services will be held on Saturday, December 27th, 2025, at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, LA, a Public Viewing will start at 10:00 AM followed by the Funeral Service at 12:00 PM. The graveside service and burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Baker, LA, where she will find eternal peace.
The family invites all to join them in honoring Nancy's life and sharing cherished memories on this solemn day. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those she touched. Special thanks to Pointe Coupee Homehealth and Lane Regional ER and Intensive Care Unit for their amazing care and Dr. Rachel Dewey.
Donations may be made in her honor to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. Nancy's journey may have come to an end, but her legacy of love will continue to shine brightly.
