John Grady "Buddy" Piper Sr., 87, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, was called to his eternal resting place on June 5, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He entered this world on March 7, 1931, born to Earl and Florence Piper, in Baton Rouge. He always enjoyed spending time at his camp hunting and fishing. He retired from the Iron Workers Local 623.
Buddy is survived by his wife of 67 years, Rosalie Piper; three sons, John Piper, Jr. and wife Pat, Ronnie Piper and wife Michelle, Lonnie Piper and wife Cindy; daughter, Brenda Piper; eleven grandchildren, John Piper III, Justin Piper, Chris Piper, Edward Narrow, Bridget Narrow, Landon Piper, Lawson Piper, Laynie Piper, Stephen Piper, Brett Piper, Christina Piper; eleven great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Buddy is preceded in death by his parents, Earl A. and Florence Austin Piper; daughter, Deborah Piper; granddaughter, Deborah Narrow; brothers, Earl A. Piper, Marion Piper; sister, Betty June Frank, Patsy Bennett, Earline Hutson.
Pallbearers will be Lonnie Piper, John Piper III, Justin Piper, Chris Piper, Edward Narrow and Landon Piper.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, LA, on Thursday, June 7, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. The visitation will continue on Friday, June 8, 2018, from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Deacon Shelley Joseph. The graveside service and burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Baker.
