For My Brother
We did not walk side by side through every season,
nor share every chapter of our lives.
Time and distance shaped our story
in ways neither of us fully understood.
Yet you were my brother.
That truth stood quietly,
constant and unchanging.
We shared beginnings -
a childhood sky,
a family name,
roots that ran deeper than conversation.
And even in the spaces between us,
there was a bond that existed
simply because you were you
and I was me.
I wish you peace now -
the kind that softens all the hard edges of this life.
May you rest knowing
that your life mattered,
your presence was real,
and your memory remains.
Though our relationship was imperfect,
it was ours.
And that alone makes it meaningful.
- Your Sister
Brittany
