James Jimmy Pourciau

A resident of Baker, James passed away on Monday, July 28, 2014 at 5:40pm at his home. He was 82, and retired from Holsum Bakery with 35 years of service.

Visiting at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, on Friday, August 1, from 48pm, and on Saturday, August 2, from 11am until religious services in the chapel at 1pm, conducted by Rev. Don Perkins. Interment to follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park, Baton Rouge.

James is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jean Pourciau daughter and soninlaw, Cathi A. Pourciau and John Engelsman a son and two daughtersinlaw, Randy and Darlene Pourciau, and Gwynn Tullier sister, Wonzie Chaney brother and sisterinlaw, Clarence and Louise Pourciau three grandchildren, Alicia Marcotte, Julie Churchill, and Leslie Patten six greatgrandchildren, Preston, Jake, Olivia, Reese, Rhoby, and Ruston and three stepgrandchildren, Brent Hebert, Greg Engelsman, and Alex Engelsman.

He was preceded in death by a son, Donald Sac Saccaro sister, Rowena Breaux brother, Alvin Pourciau and his parents, Clarence and Odette Pourciau.

Pallbearers are Jamie Graham, E.J. Marcotte, Dan Churchill, Brent Hebert, Tommy Robinson, and Michael Pourciau.

James was a member of the Baker City Council for 36 years, and was a member of the Teamsters for 35 years. He was active in the Baker Fire Department and Baker Little League. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Baker. He was also a furniture maker, an avid fisherman, and always had a good joke. Special thanks to Paula Dungan for her love and care.
