In Loving Memory of Jimmy Johnston

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Jimmy Johnston, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Surrounded by his loved ones, Jimmy departed this life on October 22, 2023, at his home in the City of Central, LA at the age of 76.

Born on July 14, 1947, in Meadowview, VA, Jimmy was a proud American serving in the US Air Force during Vietnam. With a passion for computer technology, he pursued a career as an Electronic Tech with Bellsouth for many years. He would later retire from AT&T after 31 years. Jimmy was also known for his dedication, expertise, and ability to brighten any room with his infectious laughter.

Jimmy is survived by his loving wife, Cathy Johnston, who stood by his side through thick and thin. Their bond was built on a strong foundation of love and support, and their journey together was filled with cherished memories and unbreakable devotion. Jimmy is also survived by his children, Terry Johnston, Jami Johnston (Daniel), Chris Lay (Christina), and Melissa Kelly; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; and his best friend and "brother", Mike Haines.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, Clifton and Helen Johnston; and grandson, Mason Johnston.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, LA on November 21, 2023, from 4:00 PM until the Memorial Service at 6:00 PM, officiated by Reverend Mike Haines.

During this difficult time, we ask for your support, love, and condolences for Cathy and the Johnston family. Let us come together to celebrate the life of a remarkable man who touched the hearts and lives of all those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Jimmy sought to be free from his useless body for a long time. He is free and reunited with his loved ones in heaven. We are saddened by our loss, but fully aware that Jimmy is not gone, only removed from our sight. In his memory we will celebrate a life well lived.
