Howard Vaughn Paxton, a man of deep faith, profound kindness, and unwavering devotion to his family, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 21, 2026. At 55 years old, he passed away peacefully, wrapped in the comfort and warmth of his home. Howard's journey began on August 6, 1970, when he was born to Brigitte and William Paxton, Jr., in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. From that day forward, he brought immense joy, light, and purpose into the lives of everyone who knew him. He grew to become a cherished son, a deeply devoted father, and a loyal, steadfast friend to many. His legacy of love, laughter, and compassion will forever live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

Howard is survived by his loving daughter, Sydnie Paxton; son, Landon McBride; 2 grandchildren, Sadie and Sophia Paxton; parents, Brigitte and William Paxton, Jr.; and brothers, Mike Paxton and Troy Paxton (Ashley).

Howard is preceded in death by his son, Derrian Paxton; maternal grandmother, Maria Matthieu; paternal grandparents, Mildred and William Paxton, Sr.; aunt, Renee Jumonville, and uncle, Helmut Hellwig.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Paxton, Troy Paxton, Ethan Paxton, and Jesse Gulledge.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, LA, on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, from 9:00 AM until the Funeral Service at 10:00 AM. The graveside service and burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, in Baker, Louisiana.
