Gerald William Dixon

Gerald William Dixon, 71, a resident of Denham Springs and a native of Pottsville, PA, passed away at 12:10am on Friday, January 22, 2016 at Ochsner Medical Center, Baton Rouge. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Vietnam Era. He owned Gerry's Maintenance and Repair, retired from Tiger Services, and worked for Exxon. Gerald was a great father, and took care of many kids that weren't his own. He was a member of the Baker Masonic Lodge, #441 F&AM since 1986, and a member of the Acacia Shrine Temple. He started the motorcycle group for the Shriners, and was a hobo named "Leftover" with the Shriners. He was also very active with the Shriners' Hospital, and used to race cars in his younger years. The family would like anybody with bugs or bikes to please bring them to the funeral in Gerald's honor.

Gerald is survived by three children, Laurann Martin, Francene Quinn (Steve), and Gerald Manuel Dixon (Chandra Johnson); two sisters, Sandralee Massey and Annette Carr; two brothers, John Dixon (Vera), and Ronald S. Dixon (Linda); two grandchildren, John Bourgeois (Jennifer Burns) and Ronald Martin (Cassy); and 12 great grandchildren, Reese Martin, Riley Martin, Ronnie Martin, Nicholas Martin, Memori Martin, Johnnie Blaz Chambers, Alexis Bourgeois, Devin Dixon, Ray Ray Burns, D.J. Burns, Skylar Dixon, and Laura Marie Martin.

He was preceded in death by wife, Laura Dixon; and his parents, Adam and Anna Dixon.

Visiting at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, on Monday, January 25, from 5-9pm, and on Tuesday, January 26, from 9am until religious services in the chapel at 11am, conducted by Revs. Johnathan King and Lauri Rayborn.

Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Baker.

Serving as pallbearers are Gerald M. Dixon, John Bourgeois, Ronald Martin, Paul Gleason, Samuel Moore, and Neil Kahn.
