Emmanuel Hernandez

2 Timothy 4:7-8 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day, and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our loved one, Emmanuel Joseph Hernandez, 66 years old, a resident of Baker, surrounded by his loving family and loyal friends, during his passing on March 9, 2018. He was a loving son, brother, step-brother, father, grandfather, and friend to so many. He answered to many names: Manny, Peanut and Popcorn, EJ, Grunck, Daddy, and Poppy. He was a big guy with a huge loving heart, always joking, quite the charmer. He is dearly loved by his family. Prior to retiring he was a Heavy Equipment Operator with the Local Union 406. He loved hunting and fishing and especially loved going to the hunting camp in Lorman, MS. He loved his life-long friends, Bill and Joey Pizzolatto. He played football at St. Gerard School and continued playing with Redemptorist High School. He loved watching football with his father and was an avid LSU and Saints fan.

Emmanuel is survived by his loving wife, Frances L. Hooper; daughters, Charmaine Scott (Christopher), and Shanna Marcotte (Terry); son, Dusty Hernandez; mother, Dorothy Smith; step-father, Earl Smith; sister, Linda Guidroz (Jimmy); step-sisters, Debbie Shaffett (David), Linda Smith, Diane Holden, and Joan Matino (Dean); step-brother, Bill Smith; step-mother, Anna Hernandez; 8 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Emmanuel is preceded in death by his father, Emmanuel Hernandez; sister, Susan Marie Hernandez; and step-son, Paul Hooper.
