Dorothy Smith

Dorothy Mae Smith, 96 years old, our beloved Mother, was called to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 2, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She entered this world on January 24, 1929, born to Lillie and John Cambre, in Prairieville, LA. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, in Zachary. Dorothy and her late husband, Earl owned and operated D&E Superette in Central for many years. They also enjoyed RV camping across America and Canada as well as fishing with Bayou State Couples Bass Club. She also enjoyed hosting the annual Easter family fish fry. She had the kindest of hearts, a joyful spirit, and the best sense of humor. Dorothy enjoyed her family visits sipping hot coffee and sharing her homemade banana-nut bread, no matter the time. She gave the best hugs and would shower her family with love and kisses.

Dorothy is survived by her loving and devoted daughter, Linda Guidroz (Jimmy); step-children, Debbie Shaffett (David), Dianne Holden, and Bill Smith; daughter-in-law, Frances Hernandez; grandchildren, Tracy Achord (Todd), Charmaine Scott (Chris), Shanna Marcotte (Terry), Dusty Hernandez, Tara Mckenzie (Clay), Tonya Treuil (Brad), Heather Kuhlman (Andrew), Robby Holden (Amanda), and Patrick Holden; great-grandchildren, Reece, Christian, Zayda, Mallory, Emily, Trey, Kaden, Shane, Collin, Micah, Madison, Baleigh, Cooper, Brooks, Pierce, Heidi, and Hailey; and Great-Great Granddaughter, Margot.
