Donna Ruth Porter Smith

Donna Ruth Porter Smith was born on September 4, 1957, and passed away at her home in Baker, Louisiana, on September 10, 2026, at the age of 69.

Donna was a loving sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Donna had a special love for horses that began when she was young. One of her fondest childhood memories was her horse, Buttermilk. Her love of horses stayed with her throughout her life and was a part of who she was.

Donna also loved the simple joys of life-especially sitting around a campfire, laughing, talking, and enjoying time with the people she cared about. Those moments of laughter and togetherness are memories her family will treasure.

Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Dickie Smith; her mother, Carolyn Blice Porter; her father, Donald Porter; her sister, Sheila Porter; and her grandson, Wade Lackey.

She leaves behind her son, Jason Lackey and grandson Samuel Lackey, of Washington, Indiana and son Matt Lackey and his wife, Madelyn, of Greensburg, Louisiana; her sisters, Jane von der Lieth and her husband, Joe, of Avon Lake, Ohio, and Marsha Lloyd and her husband, Ed, of Lawrenceville, Illinois; her nephews, Jarett Weger, Max von der Lieth, and Alex von der Lieth; and her step mother Dixie Porter and mother-in-law, Retha Smith.

Donna's family will remember her for the love she gave, the laughter she shared, and the simple moments that brought her happiness.

There will be no funeral services at this time.

Rest peacefully, Donna. You will be deeply missed and forever loved.
