Dolores Lea

"You'll never know, dear, how much I love you.

Please don't take my sunshine away"

Dolores was born on July 27,1930 in Gretna, LA. She later moved to Baton Rouge, LA where she attended Istrouma High School (Class of 1951), worked as a telephone operator for Bellsouth, and developed a deep love for the LSU Fighting Tigers. She met and married Frank Lea in 1955, and they had three children. Her family ultimately settled in the Brown Heights neighborhood of Baker, LA where she became known for her enthusiastic portrayal as a witch during the annual Halloween Trick or Treat. Affectionately known as "Dee Dee", she enjoyed Mardi Gras, Days of our Lives, QVC, and cheering on LSU. Most of all, Dee Dee loved being surrounded by her friends and family. She will be greatly missed by all of us, especially on our birthdays when we will no longer be sung to at 6:00 AM in that special alto voice.

Dolores is survived by her children: Madelynne Robertson (John), Pamela Savini (Rodney), and Frank Lea, Jr (Diane); grandchildren: Fallon Lambert Remedios (Paul), Amanda Kimbrell (JT), Joshua Lea (Mallory), Mason Lea (Reighchel), Marcus Savini (Cheri), and Ronnie Savini; great-grandchildren: Hayden, Mikah, Grant, Lillian, Samantha, Aubrey, and Haven; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her beloved grandmother, Barbara Moulliet; parents: Lawrence Broussard and Theresa Broussard; husband, Frank Lea; sister, Merial Woodward; treasured best friend, Joan Frichter; cherished child; grandson, Michael Snethen; and beloved chihuahua, Tippy.

In her final years, Dee Dee resided at Whealdon Estates. Her family would like to offer our most sincere gratitude to the staff at Whealdon Estates for their friendship and care.

Visitation will be at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, LA, on Monday, April 22, 2024 from 9:00 AM until the funeral service at 11:00 AM, officiated by Deacon Thomas D. Benoit. The graveside service and burial will immediately follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Baker, LA.
