Charles "Glen" Gebhart

Charles "Glen" Gebhart passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at the age of 84. Glen was born on April 9, 1931 in Baton Rouge, LA and a resident of Baker, LA. Glen retired from Louisiana National Bank with 30 years of service, and then retired as a Construction Supervisor with the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board.

Glen was a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict, and received The Good Conduct and National Defense Service Medals. Glen was a member of The American Legion, Air Force Association, Knights of Columbus, and St. Isidore Catholic Church, where he served as Head Usher for over 50 years. Glen was recognized as Bakers Citizen of the Year, and was past King of The Carnival Ball in Baker 1976. Glen was on the Board of Directors for the Baton Rouge Zoo, and Civil Defense Director in Baker in the 60s. Glen was also an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer. An article was written about Glen's talent of making and selling hand carved wood "duckies" from golf clubs. Glen was the best dad in the whole world.

Glen is survived by two daughters, Connie Dunn (husband David) and Glenda Thompson (husband Zeke); son Michael Glen Gebhart (wife Paula); sister, Myrtle Ann Saxon; two grandchildren, David Eric Dunn and Brandon Thompson; great-grandchildren Max and Miles Dunn, Christian, Alayna and Samuel Thompson; nephew and Godchild, Brody Saxon; and three nieces, Cheryl, Babs and Gwen.

Preceded in death by his parents, Adine and Richard Gebhart; brother, Richard Gebhart; and wives, Billie Spencer and Frances Gebhart.

Visiting at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker on Thursday, February 18, 2016 from 4-8pm. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7:00pm led by KCs. Visitation will continue at St. Isidore Catholic Church, 5657 Thomas Road, Baton Rouge on Friday, February 19, 2016 from 10:00am until Mass of Christian Burial at noon, celebrated by Rev. Frank Bass. Interment with Military honors will follow at Louisiana National Cemetery in Zachary.

Honorary pallbearers will be Pete Heine, John Butler and Paul Thompson.
