Charles "Chuck" S. Bailey
A resident of Gonzales and a former longtime resident of Baker, Chuck passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, January 10, 2015. He was 76, a US Marine Corps Veteran, and a native of Forest Hill, LA. Chuck spent 40 years in law enforcement, having retired as Captain with the Baker Police Department in 1990, and retiring from the LSU Police Department in 2008.
Visiting at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, on Tuesday, January 13, from 5-9pm, and on Wednesday, January 14, from 9am until religious services in the chapel at 11am, conducted by Rev. Jesse Bourgoyne. Interment with military honors to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Baker.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 25 years, Lois F. Bailey; son, Charles G. "Chuck" Bailey; daughter, Jodie Bailey Strain and husband, Don A. Strain, Jr.; step-son, Russell "Russ" Seal; four siblings, Richard Bailey, Janice Prejean and husband Barry, Fay Seaton and husband Harold, and Ann Bailey; three grandchildren, Kasye Bailey, Julia Strain, and Shelby Seal; a great-grandson, Grayson Bailey; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Chuck was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Bailey; and his parents, Ruby and Charles A. Bailey.
Pallbearers will be members of the Baker Police Department. Honorary pallbearers are Kevin White, Bob Nagin, Barret Nagin, Rick Bailey, Harold Seaton, Kenny Funderburk, Danny Beck, and Barry Prejean.
Chuck enjoyed hunting in his younger years, and loved fishing and golfing. He lived for law enforcement, and his passion was community service. He will be greatly missed.
