Augustine Matusicky

Augustine "Gus" Teadoric Matusicky, age 89, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on April 5, 2017. He was born on August 11, 1927 to Paul and Julia Csanyi Matusicky in the Hungarian Settlement in Albany, Louisiana. He served in the US Army as a Merchant Marine in the Korean War. Gus participated in the Senior Olympics regularly. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was an avid gardener. He would say, "the woods was his church". Gus was one of sixteen siblings.

Gus is survived by loving wife of 64 years, Allie Mae Bordelon Matusicky; daughters, Teresa Margaret Aegerter and husband, Judd, Marilyn Ann Perry, and Lisa Marie Matusicky; sons, Mark Steven Matusicky and wife, Lynn, John Michael Matusicky, Matthew David Matusicky and wife Bea, Luke Edward Matusicky and sister-in-law Wendy Wyatt Matusicky; 15 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and numerous brothers and sisters.

Gus is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Julia Csanyi Matusicky; and numerous brothers and sisters.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker on Friday, April 7, 2014, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The visitation will continue on Saturday, April 8, 2017, from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service 11:00 a.m. officiated by Deacon Shelley Joseph. The entombment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Baker, LA.

Pallbearers will be Brian Gelpi, Kris Matusicky, Andrew Matusicky, Nathan Matusicky, Jean-Luc Matusicky, and Skyler Matusicky.
