Alfred Amant

Born on Sept 21, 1942, Freddy, a resident of Baker, passed away on March 17, 2016 at the age of 73. He is now restored in Heaven. He was a loving father, grandfather, husband, uncle, and brother. He loved family, working outside, and helping others.

He is survived by his son and his wife, Jeff and Mary Jo St. Amant and their daughter, Morgan. Also surviving Freddy are three stepsons and their wives: Harold and Cheryl Leggett, Travis and Marilyn Leggett, and Billy and Susie Leggett. Their children: Jarred, Zachary, Brendan, Logan, Kristin, Michelle, Jessica S., Miranda, Jessica M., and Madelyn. He also leaves behind his sister Margaret Mattson and husband Ted, his brother Jim and wife Mel, and brother-in-law Bud Smelser and wife Jeanie. Many very special Nieces and Nephews: Claire, Missy, Julie, Tommy, Linda, Freddy, Laverne, Terry, Robyn, Jeff, and their families.

He is reunited with his wife Peggy L St. Amant, parents, Rev Alfred St. Amant Jr and Margaret St. Amant, sister Irene Boles, brother-in-law Fred Boles, and sister-in-law Avis Smelser.

He loved so many beyond normal family bounds: extended family, neighbors, friends, and many brothers at Local 198. He will surely be missed by them all.

Visitation will be at Baker Funeral Home in Baker, La on Monday, March 21 from 9 a.m.-11. a.m.

Pastor Jay Hogewood will officiate the service immediately after.

Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Baker.
